BeeOmetrics season 2: Ecosystem monitoring powered by wild bees
Following a successful first phase during which we deployed 50 BeeOtels in France and Belgium, BeeOmetrics is now entering its second year of experimentation.
With the support of over 25 partner organizations, we’ve expanded our monitoring network with 150 additional BeeOtels across six countries: France, Belgium, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, and Poland. This brings us to 200 active sites across Europe, in both urban and agricultural environments.
At each site, we monitor the presence and nesting activity of wild bees, including occupation rates within the BeeOtels. In parallel, we collect ground-truth data on local environmental health, from plant biodiversity to pollution traces, offering a unique and seasonally relevant view of local ecosystems.
These insights are helping us build the scientific foundation for a new generation of biodiversity monitoring tools, aimed at supporting land and site managers with robust, nature-based decision-making.
Stay tuned, we’ll be sharing more updates on the project’s progress and early findings in the coming months.
